DCCEEW Aboriginal Water Strategy

Black Logic was engaged by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) to support the development and visual communication of the NSW Aboriginal Water Strategy, ensuring culturally anchored design and storytelling that reflects Aboriginal peoples’ deep connections to water Country. We designed the Strategy using the artwork of Nathan Peckham’s Ghi-dhuray Connection to the River piece, ensuring the artwork elements were intertwined throughout the Strategy design.

Services we provided
  • Cultural and narrative design consultation
  • Graphic design and visual storytelling for strategy document
  • Design in line with DCCEEW brand guidelines
  • Strategic communication support for Government documentation

Our Approach

We grounded design decisions in Aboriginal cultural knowledge and community‑informed perspectives, ensuring all outputs honoured Country, stories, and strategic priorities, while aligning with the NSW brand guidelines.

The Mission

To visually articulate the NSW Aboriginal Water Strategy’s principles, support DCCEEW’s engagement processes, and amplify Aboriginal voices and perspectives within what can often be a dry Government policy document.

The Outcome

The final Strategy strengthens the strategy’s clarity and cultural resonance, helping stakeholders better understand its priorities and actions; key visuals celebrated connection to Country and supported meaningful engagement with First Nations audiences.
